  • Langham Brook

Abstraction of water from Langham Brook The brook running through Langham is owned by each riparian property and we thank each of you for fulfilling your responsibiites with regard to the maintenance of the bank and water course. The recent warm, dry spell has left the water level very low and we felt it was important to remind riparian owners that, whilst the abstraction of water up 20cubic metres per day or less does not require a licence from the Environment Agency, amounts in excess of this may do so and should be referred to them. A reminder of riparian duties: Pass on the flow of water without obstruction, pollution or diversion affecting the rights of others. Maintain the bed...

  • Rutland Agriculture Society Planning Application

    Created on: Saturday, 11 April 2020 12:14

Rutland Agriculture Society Planning Application A planning application 2020/0245/FUL has been received by Langham Parish Council. It has been submitted by Rutland Agricultural Society and seeks a new entrance to the Rutland Show Ground on Burley Road. They propose this new entrance be via the field that lies next to Langham Junction level crossing. It would be used for vehicular exit during the Rutland show, and possibly for a limited number of other events, and would also be used by emergency vehicles. Langham Parish Council has recommended refusal as the application seems to ignore the Langham Neighbourhood Plan, is unsafe, seems impractical and would cause Langham no end of traffic ...

Crossing the A606

Attached is a questionnaire, sent by RCC at LPC's suggestion, to test how many people in Langham avoid crossing the A606, or are fearful of doing so, because it is dangerous. The data collected will add to measures RCC have already made of volume of traffic and number of people actually using the existing crossing point near Burley Road. This to help RCC ascertain whether we need a Pelican Crossing as shown.

It is targeted at those south of Melton Rd and along Cold Overton Road, but is relevant to every resident who has or had need to cross the A606 at the existing crossing point near Burley Road junction. If that applies to you, then you should feel free to respond, irrespective of where you live in the village

UPDATE: With the help of our RC Councillor Oliver Hemsley we are hoping to extend the survey to the whole of Langham. Look out for it dropping through your door early in the new year. This may be our one and only chance to get a light controlled crossing on the A606 so if you get a survey please take a few minutes to fill it in and return it to RCC.
